He's won award after award from such highly-regarded groups as The Associated Press, Georgia Sportswriters Association, Georgia Outdoor Writers Association and Georgia Press Association, including the prestigious Joe Parham Award for best humorous column of the year. But Daryl Gay is most at home slipping silently inside the tree line, rifle or shotgun in hand. He is an avid
fisherman, but the consuming passion of the hunt and the hunters he's met along the way have provided the driving forces in his life.

His stories and columns have appeared in newspapers and magazines across the South, and he has been a columnist for highly-respected Georgia Outdoor News magazine for over fifteen years.

Engagements have covered the gamut from civic clubs and church groups – both in the pulpit and informally with fellowship organizations - to high school graduating classes and elementary schoolchildren. At ease before any size or type crowd. And when he’s not writing…

* Long-time coach of the Dublin Young Guns baseball team, consistently ranked among the top squads in the nation in USSSA. Led the Guns to 2006 USSSA World Series championship game in Johnson City, TN.
* In GRPA sports, coached son’s teams to two Georgia state championship games in soccer (won in 2004, runner-up in 2003), and won 2005 state baseball championship
* Volunteer chaplain in Georgia prison system for over 10 years, holding services for many who see little light among the darkness
